Obituary for Menard Emil Nehrt

Menard Emil  Nehrt
NEHRT, MENARD EMIL, age 84, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at MidMichigan Medical Center in Midland.

Funeral Services for Menard will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at 11 a.m. with Deacon Larry Fussman officiating. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery. A Luncheon will immediately follow the Committal Service at the Reflections Reception Center. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 25, from 4 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Menard was born on August 21, 1933, in Clement Township, IL, the son of August and Alvina (Pries) Nehrt, where he grew up on the family farm. He married JoAnn McGuirk on October 18, 1980. Menard proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard. He worked for Shell Oil Company for 37 years, working one year in Syria. Menard retired in 1992 and built a lake front home on Table Rock Lake by Branson, MO, where he spent his time bass fishing and he loved it. His big bass was 10 lbs 2 oz.

Menard is survived by his wife, JoAnn; children, Bill (Deena) Nehrt, Rosemary (Vern) Hoag, Mark (Tammy) Carrier, and John (Jodi) Carrier; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Sonja Albaugh and Jean McGuirk; and special son, Bob Gordy.

Menard was preceded in death by his son, Bobby Nehrt; daughter, Kimberly Gamble; and 9 brothers and sisters.
