Obituary for Michael "Mike" Linsday

Michael "Mike" Linsday
MICHAEL D. "MIKE" LINSDAY, age 65, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2017, at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor from complications with cancer.

A Memorial Service for Mike will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, November 15, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Wally Hostetter officiating. A Luncheon will immediately follow in the Reflections Reception Center. The family will receive friends the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Compassion Network. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Mike was born February 16, 1952, in St. Clair, Michigan to Irving and Marie (Edgette) Linsday. He grew up the youngest of 4 sons and was the recipient of many fun-loving pranks pulled by his big brothers. Mike graduated from Richmond High School with the Class of 1970 and from Central Michigan University in 1974. He married the love of his life, Jenness Schroeder in Port Huron on August 12, 1972. It was always Mike and Jen, or Jen and Mike, always best friends.

Mike began his teaching career at Clare Public Schools, then served as principal at Rosebush Elementary School. Mike finished his teaching career at Ganiard, Pullen, and Fancher Elementary Schools in the Mt. Pleasant Public School System, and retired after 35 years in education. Although Mike loved to joke with his students, he was serious about preparing them academically. He made the classroom fun with many games, and "Mr. Wizard" Days.

Mike had a passion for helping the Community Compassion Network (CCN) and Christmas Outreach. He was part of Mt. Pleasant Community Church where he volunteered with Operation Christmas Child and worked on the vacation bible school sets. He loved golfing, playing pickleball, and reading biographies and history. Mike also enjoyed playing cards with friends, working in the yard and garden, and meeting the guys at McDonald's for coffee. Mike was a very devoted husband and father. Most important to him was time spent with his family, whether it be traveling, camping, walking in the parks, bike riding, grilling, and celebrating holidays.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Jen Linsday; daughter Kristin (Matt) Dunker; 3 brothers Daniel (Ann) Linsday, Thomas Linsday, and David (Joyce) Linsday; brother-in-law Warren (Ellen) Schroeder; sister-in-law Melissa DesJardin; and many nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law Carl and Elaine Schroeder; and brothers-in-law Carl and Bryant Schroeder.
