Obituary for Miles Anthony Bunting

BUNTING, MILES ANTHONY, age 92, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at the Stone Lodge Assisted Living in Shepherd.

A Funeral Mass for Miles will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Don Henkes and Deacon Larry Fussman officiating. A Luncheon will immediately follow in the Sacred Heart Parish Hall. Interment will be held in Two Rivers Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Friday, May 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 pm. Visitation will continue at the church the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Academy Foundation, VFW Post 3033, or Stone Lodge Assisted Living. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Miles was born on May 3, 1924, in Two Rivers, the son of Oral and Theresa (Ege) Bunting. Miles proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. During the war, Miles was captured and was a POW under the German Army. He also received two Purple Heart Medals for his services. After his return to the United States, he married Elaine Bragg on June 21, 1952 in Mt. Pleasant. Miles worked for Mt. Pleasant Regional Center for 30 years. He was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans and American Ex-Prisioners of War Organization. Miles enjoyed golfing, gardening and taking care of his yard, traveling to Las Vegas and Florida for winters, but most importantly, spending time with his family.

Miles is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elaine; children, Greg (Dottie) Bunting of Cedar, MI, Gayla (Randy) Inosencio of Mt. Pleasant, and Doug (Linda) Bunting of Kalamazoo; 7 grandchildren, Pat Bunting, Scott (Jen) Bunting, Andy Bunting, Randy (Meredith) Inosencio, Michele (Tim) Fishtorn, Tracy (Phil) Borka, and Miles Bunting; 8 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Roger (Jean) Bragg of Mt. Pleasant; and sisters-in-law, Ladonna Bunting-Havenkost of Littlefield Lake, Kate Henry, and June Thering, both of Mt. Pleasant, Jan Bragg of Bay City, Barb Bragg of Auburndale, FL, and Lorraine Kanne of Newberry.

Miles was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John Bunting, Elton (Mary) Bunting, and Olen (Pat) Bunting; and sisters, Irene (Dalton) Rayborn and Lucille (Ken) Bollman.
