ZALESKI, NICK, age 96, of Hubbardston passed away Friday, December 23, 2016, at Hazel Findlay Country Manor in St. Johns.

Nick was born in Columbus, OH, on December 20, 1920. The family moved to the Mt. Pleasant area where he grew up. He served his county in the Marine Corps from 1942 to 1944. He married in 1943 to Mary Ellen Rodd Wyman. They made their home in Perrinton, MI, where they raised their six children. He owned the IGA store in Perrinton for many years. He was a meat cutter by trade. He then moved to Mt. Pleasant when he bought a meat processing plant. They moved back to the area when he bought Kennedy's bar in Carson City, MI. After a few years he discovered "God's Country" in Munising, MI. They moved there in 1981 where they bought another bar and stayed until 1988. They moved to Matherton, where they retired. Nick spent the last six years at the Hazel Findlay Country Manor in St. Johns. The staff took very good care of him. He died peacefully in his sleep with his daughter-in-law, Nettie, by his side. Nick loved to fish and spending time with his brother, Bill, in Canada on fishing trips. He loved to tell a story or two and a good cigar. He was a life member of the Carson City American Legion Post and a life member of the Marc Daniels VFW Post in Perrinton.
