Phyllis Burkholder, 87, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2006, at Isabella County Medical Care Facility.

Funeral services for Phyllis will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2006 at 2 p.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Pastor Greg Buchner officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine River Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the Rosebush United Methodist Church following the interment. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 4, from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Phyllis was born in Saranac, MI, the daughter of Francis and Jenny (Adgate) Rising. She married Chester Burkholder on Nov. 7, 1936. They raised four children on the family farm between Winn and Blanchard. Phyllis was a dedicated homemaker and showed great love and care for her children. In later life, she was employed by the Oak Company in Mt. Pleasant where she retired. Phyllis enjoyed crocheting, babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she loved animals, especially dogs and was a member of the Red Hat Society.

Phyllis is survived by her lifetime companion, Bob Burkholder; children, Jacquelyn Wills (fiance, Larry Theisen) of Lake Isabella, Larry (Norma) Burkholder of Bradenton, FL and Roger (Denise) Burkholder of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Julie (Walden) Bontrager, Kimberly (Craig) Price, Jamie (Patti) Burkholder, Jolene (Andy) Kruse, Jan (Jeff) Reihl, Brent (Gina) Burkholder, Brett (Heidi) Burkholder, Randy Burkholder and Bryan Kunst-Burkholder; great-grandchildren, Justin, Jennifer, Connor, Carter, Callie, Lindsey, Christopher, Alexander, Katie, Andrew, Joshua, Cody, Nicholas, Savannah, Haden, Hunter and Holden.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Chester and son, Randall.
