Obituary for Rex Lovejoy

Rex  Lovejoy
LOVEJOY, REX, age 81 , of Stanwood, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at his home.
Funeral Services for Rex will take place on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Clark Family Funeral Chapel with Dick Eldred officiating. A Luncheon will be held immediately following services at Reflections Reception Center. Interment will take place in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 15 , 2017 at Rogers Heights Christian Church, 19938 Park Road, Big Rapids from 1-4 p.m. and Monday, April 17 , 2017 at Clark Family Funeral Chapel from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Visitation will continue at the funeral chapel the day of the service from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and Rogers Heights Christian Church.
Rex was born July 26, 1935 in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Cortes and Ruth (Utterback) Lovejoy. Rex graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School with the class of 1953. He served proudly in the US Army. Rex married Beverly Jean Graf on June 28, 1954. She preceded him in death on April 11, 2015. He retired from UPS as a truck driver and fleet mechanic, and was a heavy equipment operator. Rex was a member of Rogers Heights Christian Church, and a lifetime member of the NRA. Rex was a private pilot, and loved to hunt with his kids and grandkids. Above all, Rex loved spending time with his family.
Rex is survived by his children Robin Lovejoy, Carla (Kendale) Recker, Steven Lovejoy, Barbara (Jim) Mason, Jeff (Linda) Lovejoy, and Melissa (Todd) Eichler; 13 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sisters Janet Graham, Zora (John) Datema, Pat (Clare) Townsend; brothers Donald (Merlene) Lovejoy, Robert (Betty) Lovejoy; sister in law Faye Jarman; sister in law JoAnn Lovejoy; and many nieces and nephews.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Max, brother in law Roy Graham; brother in law Russel Powelson, brother in law Jack Jarman, and sister in law Glenda Lovejoy.
