Rita “Stup” Marie Huntley 80 of Harrison went to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 23, 2018. Rita was born May 18, 1938 in Rose City, Michigan the daughter of George and Dora (Lynch) Sheldon. On April 9, 1955 in Clare, Michigan, Rita was united in marriage to Mr. Lawrence “Larry” S. Huntley.
Mrs. Huntley had resided in Harrison since 1971, moving from Lake George, Michigan and formerly of Farwell, Michigan. Rita was a member of Community Baptist Church, Harrison and a life member of the Harrison V.F.W. Post 1075 Ladies Auxiliary. Rita was passionate about her Lord, reading her Bible and her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, baking, dancing with her beloved Larry and going on camping trips. She truly practiced the giving of un-conditional love to her family and friends.
Surviving Mrs. Huntley is her loving husband of sixty three years, Mr. Lawrence “Larry” S. Huntley of Harrison, her four daughters; Lois Marie McLurg of Somerset Center, Michigan, Linda Sue Pudvay and husband Stephen of Midland, Michigan, Connie Jean Koenig and husband Joe of Yutan, Nebraska and Bonnie Jane Newton of Harrison, her son, Dennis S. Huntley of Harrison, fifteen grandchildren, twenty one great-grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren, one sister, Helen Remilong and husband Dale of Houghton Lake, Michigan, two brothers; George Sheldon of Cedar Springs, Michigan and Gene Sheldon and wife Judy of Farwell, many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Mrs. Huntley was preceded in death by her parents, two sons in law; Ronald Earl McLurg and James Royl Newton, two sisters; Margaret “Peggy” Rulapaugh and Judy Swain, and one half-brother, Forest Yakes.
Funeral services honoring Mrs. Huntley will be held Monday, August 27, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. from Community Baptist Church, 452 North Clare Avenue, Harrison, with Pastor Ron Callen officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, August 27, 2018 from 11:30 a.m. until time of services at Community Baptist Church. Graveside burial services will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Harrison. Memorial gifts in memory of Rita are requested to be directed to the Huntley family, in care of Mr. Lawrence “Larry” Huntley.
