While we lived in the same town blocks apart and our parents were friends, I never knew Bob till I met him at a Sports Memorabilia Show in Pittsburgh 15- 20 years ago when he noticed my vendors tag said MOUNDSVILLE, WV. Bob was 10 years older than me, but unbeknownst to him an inspiration to a lot of us young basketball players in Moundsville in the late 60's. Bob's probably never told the story to many, but he never played high school basketball at Moundsville Hi, but instead played in a highly competitive Church Youth Rec League. He still was able to play college ball at Alderson-Broaddus. So to all of us who weren't able to play at our local high schools (including this 5'2" sophomore), Bob gave us HOPE at a young age and a reason to enjoy sports no matter who the competition is. It was great to remind Bob of this and have him explain the details after we met 35 years later. My thoughts and sympathy go out to Bob's family and all of those whose lives Bob touched during his time on this earth. I'm sure I was one of many.
