Sally Annette Kavanaugh age 82 of Harrison passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Medilodge of Clare. Sally was born December 14, 1934 in Berrien Springs, Michigan the daughter of Charles edward and Evelyn selby (Ludy) Schopp. Sally was united in marriage to Mr. Carrol Joseph Kavanaugh on May 22, 1965 in Benton Harbor, Michigan. After twenty-seven years of marriage, Mr. Kavanaugh preceded Sally in death in 1992.
Mrs. Kavanaugh had resided in Harrison since 2003, coming from Coloma, Michigan. Sally was a past secretary for the American Legion Post 404 – Ladies Auxiliary Harrison, she was a Secretary of the Michigan Democratic Party, and active in the Jaycee’s. Sally enjoyed antiquing, visiting old Victorian homes, shopping, vacationing, and keeping herself busy. She had also enjoyed being the P.T.A. President and Little League President when her children were attending elementary school.
Surviving Mrs. Kavanaugh are her son Scottland E. Kavanaugh of Harrison, Her daughter Cynthia A. Stern of East Lansing, Michigan, one grandson, Joseph Dean Kavanaugh of Harrison, her brother Stanley (Arlene) Lein of Eau Claire, MI., sister-in-law Marilyn (Dorwin) Clark of Marion, MI. plus many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kavanaugh also was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services celebrating Mrs. Kavanaugh will be held Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison with Pastor Cheryl Mancier. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at Stocking Funeral Home. Burial will take place Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Rosehill Cemetery, Berrien Springs. Memorial gifts in memory of Mrs. Kavanaugh may be considered to the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary post 404.
