Obituary for Sharon Marie Southwick

SOUTHWICK, SHARON MARIE, age 58, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Friday, September 1, 2017, at home.

Funeral Services for Sharon will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at 1 p.m. with Benjamen Evers officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, September 5, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue on the day of the service from noon until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to a cancer charity of the donor’s choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Sharon was born February 27, 1959, in Rochester Hills, MI, the daughter of Norman and Mary “Jean” (Gubiord) Van Kuren. She graduated from Manton High School with the class of 1977. Sharon was an office supervisor for Off-Campus Library Services at Central Michigan University. She loved spending time with her sons and grandchildren, traveling, and reading. Sharon also liked climbing lighthouses, spending time with friends, going on cruises, and traveling to Florida.

Sharon is survived by her 3 sons, Steven Southwick of Weidman, Gregory Southwick (Megan Straus) of Mt. Pleasant, and Matthew Southwick (Casey Anderson) of Weidman; two grandchildren, Cole Southwick and Hudson Southwick; daughter-in-law, Courtney Southwick of Mt. Pleasant; sister, Vickie Rathka of Mt. Pleasant; and close friend, Anne Casey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents Ed and Edna Tessman; and brother-in-law Kirk Rathka.
