LEONARD, SHIRLEY IRENE, age 83, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Hospice House of Mid Michigan in Lansing, surrounded by her family.

A Graveside Service will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association or Hospice House of Mid Michigan.

Shirley was born on January 24, 1935 in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Herman and Blanche (Neal) Buckley. She married Kenneth Bernard Leonard on June 21, 1952, in Mt. Pleasant. He preceded her in death in July 1992. Shirley was a homemaker, and loved raising her family. She enjoyed baking and time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her six children: Randy Leonard of Mt. Pleasant, Cynthia (Jay) Brewer of Mt. Pleasant, Sandra (Jim) Miles of Lansing, Karen (Rich) Judge of Mt. Pleasant, Brien (Candice) Leonard of Kalamazoo, Jennifer (Erik) Traynor of Mt. Pleasant; daughter-in-law Kelly Leonard of Illinois; 16 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; brothers Jerry (Judy) Buckley of Mt. Pleasant, Daniel (Lindy) Buckley of Mt. Pleasant, Richard (Fran) Buckley of Traverse City, Thomas (Pam) Buckley of Traverse City, Jim (Janice) Buckley of Clare; sisters Marlene LaCronier of New Jersey, Sharon Schmidt of Mt. Pleasant, and Nancy (Gary) Alexander of Midland.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth, son Ronald, and brother William.
