Obituary for Stanley Oscar Curtiss

CURTISS, STANLEY OSCAR, age 88, of Blanchard, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Green Acres Assisted Living.

Funeral Services for Stanley will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 2 p.m. with Benjamen Evers officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and also on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund or Mid Michigan Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Stanley was born January 6, 1930, in Blanchard, the son of Oscar and Maye (Lint) Curtiss. He graduated from Shepherd High School with the class of 1948. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Stanley married Marian Rose Crowley on April 14, 1951, in Blanchard. Marian preceded him in death on March 11, 2008. Stanley served as Executive Director for Gratiot County USDA/FSA from 1961-1993. He was a member of the Cedar Valley Masonic Lodge #383. Stanley made maple syrup and farmed his entire life, for which he had a passion for. He loved to travel with his grandchildren to the Upper Peninsula, and enjoyed gardening.

Stanley is survived by his children Dennis Curtiss of Blanchard, Douglas (Colleen) Curtiss of Blanchard, Cathaleen Curtiss (Mickey Osterreicher) of Buffalo, NY; 8 grandchildren Stephanie (Jay) Persons, Andrew (Zanita) Curtiss, Katelyn (Matt) Seeley, Zachery Curtiss (Tera), Jillian (Michael) Smith, Bridgit Curtiss (Chris), Hannah Kozak (Andrew), and Ella Curtiss (Nestor ViaYRada); 10 great grandchildren Travis, Derek, Shai, Micah, Alia, Jeremiah John, Issac, MeKahna, Taylor, and Gwen; sister Virginia Showalter of Mt. Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Marian.
