Stanley Asa  Delo
DELO, STANLEY ASA, age 81, of Blanchard, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2017 at his home with his family at his side.
Funeral Services for Stanley will take place on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Clark Family Funeral Chapel with Pastor Alex Rybacheck officiating. Burial will take place in Union Cemetery. A Luncheon will follow at the Blanchard American Legion Post. The family will receive friends at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Thursday, January 19 from 5-8 p.m. Visitation will also continue on Friday from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Mid Michigan Hospice.
Stanley was born July 28, 1935 in Detroit to Alvia Steven and Bertha (Smith) Delo. He graduated from Blanchard High School with the class of 1953, and married Marilyn Herzog October 6, 1957 in Lakeview. Stanley worked for General Electric for 17 years as a mechanical draftsman, owned Delo's Hardware in Blanchard for 20 years, farmed, and was a rural mail carrier for 13 years in Blanchard. Stanley served on the Millbrook-Rolland Fire Department for 25 years, and was a lifetime Mason. He was a member of the Lakeview Seventh Day Adventist Church. Stanley loved collecting and restoring tractors, and going to the tractor pulls. He enjoyed hunting and spending time in the woods. Stan was also an ordained minister and had the privilege of officiating family weddings. He was a great story teller and loved to joke. Stan was active in the Millpond Parks Board. Stan loved spending time with his family, and took pride in the family farm home that became a centennial home in 1973.
Stanley is survived by his wife of 59 years Marilyn Delo of Blanchard; son Steven (Gina) Delo of Blanchard; 3 grandchildren Stanley Delo of McBride, Maria (Jim) Goodhall of Elwell, and Allen (Ashley) Delo of Stanton; great granddaughter Natalie Goodhall; brother William (Yvonne) Delo of Lakeview; sister Dorothy Gyger of Lansing.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents; son Stanley Delo; and a brother in law Richard Gyger.
