Obituary for Thomas Joseph Bollman

Thomas Joseph  Bollman
BOLLMAN, THOMAS JOSEPH, age 85, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016, at his home.

A Funeral Mass for Tom will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 13, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Don Henkes and Deacon Larry Fussman officiating. Rite of Committal will follow in Calvary Cemetery. A Luncheon will take place at the Parish Hall following the Committal Service. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass on Monday, June 13, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Academy Foundation or Isabella County Commission on Aging. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.

Thomas was born on December 31, 1930, in Isabella County, the son of Joseph and Catherine (Sheahan) Bollman. He served our country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. During his enlistment, he was in the military police and played baseball. Tom married Teresa Grinzinger on October 17, 1953, at St. Philomena Catholic Church. Carrying on the Bollman family tradition on the Centennial Farm, he was a lifelong dairy farmer with his brother Robert, operating Bollman Brothers Dairy Farms. He was an avid hunter and also enjoyed training dogs and horses. He was a welder and handyman. Tom was always willing to lend a helping hand to his friends and neighbors in need and was known for his creative card playing accompanied by numerous stories. Tom was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Tom is survived by his 4 children, Jean (Richard) Atkin, Tim (Cindy) Bollman, Lisa Bollman and Karen Bishop (Mike Logsdon), all of Mt. Pleasant; 10 grandchildren, Hilary Atkin (Justin Romano), Chris Atkin and Monica (Steve) Jean, Bryan (Katie) Bollman, Brenda Bollman (Shawn Woodbury), Matt (Alicia) Bollman, Joey Bishop, Teresa Bishop, Jordan Bishop, Katy Bishop; great-grandchildren, McKenna Bollman, Mitch Bollman and Henry Romano; sisters-in-law Frances Bollman and Bernice Grinzinger and brother-in-law Bob (Ellen) Grinzinger, all of Mt. Pleasant and many nieces and nephews and friends. A special thank you to all of Tom’s neighbors and friends who stopped and shared stories and special gratitude to his caregiver Ashley.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Bollman in 1991; 4 brothers, Ken, Bill, Don and Bob; and sister Helen Campbell.
