Thomas H  McKay Jr.
Thomas H. McKay, Jr., age 87, of Lake passed away Friday, September 30, 2016, at Stone Lodge Assisted Living in Shepherd under the care of Hometown Hospice.

Funeral Services for Thomas will be held at the Weidman Baptist Church on Thursday, October 6, 2016, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dean Willard officiating. Interment will follow in the North Brinton Cemetery. A Luncheon will be held back at the church following the Committal Service. The family will receive friends at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, October 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Weidman Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.

Thomas was born on August 3, 1929, in Tupelo, MS, the son of Thomas H. Sr., and Sabra (Tidwell) McKay. Thomas proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during both WWII and the Korean Conflict. He married Shirley Melton on May 16, 1953, in Friers Point, MS. Thomas worked as an automotive inspector for General Motors for over 40 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Weidman Baptist Church. Thomas was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing and building many homes.

Thomas is survived his children, Thomas "Allen" (Darlene) McKay of Lake and Barbara Bullen of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Travis (Candace) Bullen of Swartz Creek, Adam Short of Auburn Hills, and Patrick (Mary) Smith of Kalkaska; 7 great-grandchildren; and brother, James (Jean) McKay of Mt. Clemens.

Thomas was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Shirley McKay on May 29, 2009; infant daughter, Teresa McKay; parents; and brothers, Glenn and Robert McKay.
