Obituary for Thomas Joseph Pappas

PAPPAS, THOMAS JOSEPH, age 83, of Rosebush passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at his home under Mid Michigan Hospice care.

Funeral Services for Tom will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Saturday, March 25, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Ron Wagner officiating. A Luncheon will immediately follow in the Reflections Reception Center. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 24, from 2 to 8 p.m. Burial of ashes will take place in St. Henry's Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will continue the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Mid Michigan Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Tom was born on September 1, 1933, in Rosebush, the son of Gus and Mary (Gloss) Pappas. He married Barbara Joyce "Tiny" Lowther on June 26, 1954, in Mt. Pleasant. Tom worked as a pipe fitter for Dow for over 31 years. He was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening, especially making crock dill pickles for family and friends, cooking the family's ethnic foods and delivering it to the neighbors. He loved golfing, camping, spending winters in Lakeland, Florida, where he always enjoyed visiting with his neighbors from Canada and all over the United States. Tom always wanted to give you a Pepsi or a Coke when you visited. Tom was a family man and enjoyed attending grandchildren's activities and sporting events.

Tom is survived by his children, Mary Beth Pappas, Patricia "Patsy" Pappas, Nancy Pappas, Thomas (Jamee) Pappas, all of Rosebush, and Gus (Sue) Pappas of Clare; 5 grandchildren, Colleen, Jared, Augustus "Gus", Kyra, and Jillian Pappas; brother, Edward (Mary) Pappas of Rosebush; sisters-in-law, Helen Pappas of Rosebush, Beverly Loomis of Elwell, Mary Lou Zimmerman of Clio, and Shirley Chapman of Lakeland, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara "Tiny", parents; and brother, Patrick Pappas.
