PATTEN, VELMA EMILY, age 74, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at Medilodge in Mt. Pleasant.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 noon on Sunday, November 19, at the Black Creek Conservation Club.

Velma was born August 23, 1943, in Remus, the daughter of William James and Annie (Bearup) Patten. She had worked for the Soaring Eagle Resort in housekeeping. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo and loved the Detroit Tigers.

Velma is survived by her children Robin (Michael) Otto of Shepherd and Cary Patten of Mt. Pleasant; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and sister Ida Patten of Remus.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Jack Patten, Gerald Patten, Russell Thompson and Amber Gibson.
