Obituary for Vernon William "Vern" Halfmann

Vernon William "Vern"  Halfmann
HALFMANN, VERNON WILLIAM, age 89, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Monday, March 13, 2017, at Isabella County Medical Care Facility.

Funeral Services for Vern will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Thursday, March 16, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Joe Beavan officiating. A Luncheon will immediately follow in the Reflections Reception Center. Interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to an organization of your choosing. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Vern was born on July 30, 1927, in Weidman, the son of Arnold and Eleanor (Yuncker) Halfmann. He married Annie Windel on November 14, 1948. The two of them had four children. Annie preceded Vern in death in 2002. Vern married Sharon Mallay on October 22, 2004, in Mt. Pleasant. Vern worked for Ferro Manufacturing for over 30 years and retired from ICTC in 1990. Vern loved to fish, play cards, tell jokes and stories, attend church services, but most importantly, spend time with his family.

Vern is survived by his wife, Sharon; children, Judy (Bruce) York, Sue (Steve) Pickens, Bonnie (Ray) Sisco, and Mark (Heidi) Halfmann; step-children, Jim (Becky) Guthrie, Amy Guthrie, and Mark (Amanda) Guthrie; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Bernadine Fox; sisters-in-law, Leona Halfmann, Alice D'Hulster, Laura Pohl, Rose Robinson, and Judy Fox; and brother-in-law, Bill (Linda) Mallay.

Vern was preceded in death by his first wife, Annie; parents; brothers, Ken and Charlie Halfmann; and sister, Vera Neubecker.
