CARSON, WALTER WOODROW JR., age 68, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at his home after a hard fought battle with lung cancer.

A Celebration of Life for Walter will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Walter was born February 23, 1949 in New Martinsville, WV to Walter and Gladys (Myers) Carson. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School with the class of 1968. Walter married Dorothy Fetterly in Mt. Pleasant on July 19, 1968. He was a fisherman in the oil fields for many years. Walter loved spending time with his family, tinkering, deer hunting, fishing, and camping. He and Dorothy enjoyed retirement in Florida, providing his karaoke services for many campgrounds. He also golfed on a league at Pleasant Hills Golf Club, and liked watching NASCAR.

Walter is survived by his wife Dorothy Carson; four children: Walter "Woody" (Michelle) Carson of Mt. Pleasant, Amy (Michael) Craig of Clare, Jeffrey Carson of Mt. Pleasant, Jennifer (Ben) Jones of Clare; 10 grandchildren: Toni, Woody, Tyler, Josh, Drake, Adrian, Alex, Connor, Isabell, and Madison; brothers Gene (Cheryl) Carson of Harbor Beach, Larry (Barb) Carson of Caro, Terry Carson of Farwell; sisters Patricia (Ken) Bundy of Winn, Sylvia (Roger) Bitzel of Oakland, MD, Bonnie Carson of Mt. Pleasant, and Linda (Ed) Smith of Mecosta.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Darlene Raymond; and brother in law Rawleigh Raymond.
