Walter Henry "Walt" Coppens Sr.
Walter Henry Coppens, Sr., age 92, of Lake passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016, at his home under the care of Mid Michigan Hospice.

Funeral Services for Walt will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, September 20, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Dar Blanshan officiating. A Luncheon will follow at the Clare Eagles Local # 3977. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 19, 2016, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue the day of the service from 12 noon until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Cancer Services. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Walt was born on March 25, 1924, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Emil and Margaret (Tuey) Coppens. Walt proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Army. He married Georgine Wixson on October 8, 1960, in Mt. Pleasant. Walt was a lifetime member of the Eagle's and the VFW. Walt was an airplane pilot and loved to fly planes. He enjoyed scuba diving, deer hunting, fishing, playing euchre, farming, driving his tractor, and was an avid Tiger's fan.

Walt is survived by his wife, Georgine; children, Walter (Marcia) Coppens, Brenda (Allan) Brock, Cozann Hernandez, and Regina (Terry) Bouck; 12 grandchildren, Walter (Heather) Coppens, Sarah (Mike) Jentzen, Allan Brock, Jr., Rachel Brock, Jeffery Johnson, Alejandro Hernandez, TeAnna Hernandez, Jose Hernandez, Taneil Hernandez, Kurtis (Silvia) Bouck, Eli (April Pattenaude) Bouck, and Nick Bouck; 9 great-grandchildren, Emily, Ella, Paxton, Samuel, Alaina, Kaden, Ariel, Kyle, and Violet; and sister, Carol Taylor.

Walt was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Ann; parents; 4 sisters; and 2 brothers.
