Obituary for Yvonne Salter

Yvonne  Salter
SALTER, YVONNE, age 85, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Friday, April 7, 2017, at Mid Michigan Hospice-Woodland Campus.

Our beloved Yvonne was born February 2, 1932, in Mt. Pleasant, MI, the daughter of Benjamin and Mary (Delmas) DeMoines. She married Harold Salter on June 12, 1948, in Mt. Pleasant and was a homemaker. Yvonne was a proud member of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians. She was a painter, quilter, and basketmaker. Yvonne enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially deer hunting, fishing, mushrooming, picking berries, and tending her flower gardens. She dearly loved her grandchildren who called her “Grama Grama.”

Yvonne is survived by her husband, Harold of Mt. Pleasant; children Garret (Vickie) Salter of Shepherd, Karen Lada (David Perez, Sr.) of Mt. Pleasant, Roxann (Mark) Sawade of Lake Isabella, and Kendra (Marino) Pertot of Breckenridge; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother Benjamin DeMoines of Rose City, 2 sisters Marie Bowers of Evart and Marlene VanOrden of Mt. Pleasant; and special pet JoJo.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Connie Stallings and son-in-law David Stallings; brother Leonard DeMoines; sisters Dorothy DeMoines, Elsie DeMoines, Margaret Strauss and Rosalie Parsons.

Funeral Services for Yvonne will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2017, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel with Tom McNerney of First Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow in Chippewa Township Cemetery. A Luncheon will take place in the Reflections Reception Center following the Committal Service. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, April 9, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel Visitation will continue from noon until the time of service on Monday, April 10, at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Mid Michigan Hospice-Woodland Campus. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
