Remembering Aunt Lois

From my childhood I remember Aunt Lois always being quick to smile, laugh, and TEASE me...hard!! Whenever my family and I had a chance to visit over the years, she was kind and welcoming. A memory that always makes me smile is from a Labor Day Party that was in the backyard of Pattie's house. Our boys were very young then and as I sat with Lois looking out over the fields and woods behind the house I was remembering traipsing those fields at their ages. Being a mom that was raising her kiddos in the "city" I was a bit mortified at the thought of giving them the same freedom to roam that my mom and Lois gave their children!! I'm such a city girl now!! I asked Aunt Lois how they were able to let us spend so much time running around in those fields and woods without supervision (what a great childhood!!)? Thinking she would tell me that I was way too uptight and needed to loosen the apron strings, I was much surprised when she threw her head back, laughed and said, "We were stupid and clueless!!!" I still laugh about that today!! Thanks Aunt Lois for continuing to make me smile!!
