ROETHLISBERGER, LEON WILLIAM, age 81, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Shepherd passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Don Henkes and Deacon Larry Fussman officiating. Rite of Committal will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation for Leon will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Clark Family Funeral Chapel, with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also take place one hour prior to service on Friday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel or the church.

Leon was born December 17, 1934 in Shepherd, Michigan to Fred Arthur and Virgil Louise (Epple) Roethlisberger. He served his country in the US Army from 1955 until 1957, and continued in the Reserves until 1963. Leon married Nancy Theisen on October 18, 1958 in Mt. Pleasant. Leon worked for Lobdell Emery in Alma, and retired after 43 years. He then worked as custodian for Sacred Heart Academy for almost 10 years. Leon enjoyed playing cards, gardening, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was a parishoner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Leon is survived by his wife Nancy of Mt. Pleasant, MI, 4 children Roxanne (Mitch) Long of Portland, MI, Tyson (Junita Bahroos) Roethlisberger of Rockwood, MI, Pamela (Randy) Brown of Farwell, MI, Michael (Kriss) Roethlisberger of Mt. Pleasant, MI, 5 grandchildren Justin (Cara) Long of Huron, OH, Danielle (Jon) Zatkoff of Silverthorne, CO, Zachary Brown of Farwell, MI, Chase Brown of Farwell, MI, and Jaya Roethlisberger of Rockwood, MI. He is also survived by 4 brothers Charles (Doris) Roethlisberger of Mt. Pleasant, Donald (Lodema) Roethlisberger of Mt. Pleasant, David (Lorraine) Roethlisberger of Shepherd, Ray (Betty) Roethlisberger of Alma, 6 sisters Dorothy Steele of Mt. Pleasant, Margaret Grossett of St. Louis, Joan (Don) Curtis of Middleton, Carol (Bob) Bucholtz of St. Louis, Barbara Peacock of Kalamazoo, Nancy (Jon) Griffith of Millington, MI, and many nieces and nephews. Leon was preceded in death by his parents and brother Al Roethlisberger.
