Lilah Smith

Mark, Linda and the Girls, I have so many memories of Lou; all of them I cherish. I remember sitting on the back porch of the house with her while she watched birds. I whittled away at a stick I found in the yard and told her about the story we were reading in my 4th grade history class (Paddle to the Sea). I remember talking about Nascar and sharing watermelon at the wonderful 4th of July parties she and Bill hosted. She had such an influence on me. I have a special love for the color purple and hummingbirds because of her. Every time I went to visit, she had a gift for me (she did love beading) and always a smile. I wanted to visit her before I moved away, but I never got the chance. I know that she knew I loved her; I thought about her often and how she was such a great friend to me. I know I moved far away, and now she's gone even farther, but we never went father than love could reach. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time and my heart goes out to you.
